Czechia cannot stop its artillery initiative for Ukraine. Otherwise, there will be serious consequences, stated Czech President Petr Pavel, ČTK reports.

After meeting with leaders of Czech political parties, Pavel said he considers the initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine important.

"This is primarily about our reliability in relations with Ukraine, which literally depends on the supply of ammunition through the Czech initiative," Pavel said.

According to him, if Czechia cancels this initiative, it will primarily harm itself. There would also be negative consequences for Ukraine, where even more lives could be lost.

The President added that there are no issues with the transparency of the Czech initiative.

"I believe that both Andrej Babiš (leader of the ANO party, which is leading in the elections) and representatives of other political parties will act first and foremost in the interests of the Czech Republic, our allies, and partners such as Ukraine. We must not harm them or ourselves," Pavel emphasized.

Babiš opposes the artillery initiative

ANO party leader Andrej Babiš has repeatedly criticized Czechia's artillery initiative for Ukraine.

He has stated that the initiative should be canceled and believes that the program should be managed by NATO.
