Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed “long-range sanctions” in Perm and addressed the Kremlin with a message regarding the war.

“Today, Ukrainian long-range sanctions reached Perm again — that is more than 1,500 kilometers from our border. Recently, there were also important results in Chelyabinsk — up to 1,800 kilometers away — as well as in Yekaterinburg, nearly 2,000 kilometers away,” he emphasized.

The head of state noted that “the consequences of Ukrainian long-range capabilities” had also been felt in Novorossiysk, Krymsk, Tuapse, the Samara region, and the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Zelenskyy stressed that the Kremlin can stop the war every single day — not for just a few hours “to get our permission to hold a parade in Moscow,” but in order to save human lives.

“We must value people, not parades. We must establish peace, not run around world capitals begging for a pause for May 9. Peace is needed. I thank everyone who is helping Russia understand this,” the president said.

He pointed out that Ukraine has repeatedly offered Russia steps toward peace, but instead received new attacks in response.

“That is why Ukrainian long-range sanctions are moving toward remote Russian locations tied to Russia’s military industry, war infrastructure, and the financing of aggression,” Zelenskyy stressed.

Background

On the night of May 7, one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez (PNOS) in Perm, came under a drone attack for the second time in eight days.

OSINT analyst ASTRA determined from eyewitness videos that the strike targeted this specific refinery, which was later confirmed by Unmanned Systems Forces commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi. A fuel storage tank farm was likely hit.

Earlier, Zelenskyy announced a ceasefire beginning at 00:00 on the night of May 5–6, but Russia violated the truce and launched attacks on Ukrainian cities. Overnight, Russian forces struck Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Kryvyi Rih with drones and missiles.

Later that day, two enemy drones hit a kindergarten building in central Sumy, causing a fire. Rescuers recovered the bodies of two employees from under the rubble, while seven more people were injured.
