Ukraine is acting quite constructively in its dialogue with international partners, considering various peace proposals, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a flower-laying ceremony near a house destroyed by a Russian attack in Kyiv.

He explained that Ukraine had received American proposals and visions regarding peace. However, in London, a working group consisting of representatives from Ukraine, Europe, and the US presented the Ukrainian vision for the proposals put forward by the US.

"There are responses regarding NATO. This depends primarily not on Russia, its desires, or vetoes on NATO. It primarily depends on the allies' position. And if there is no such position, then we need security guarantees at this time," the President said.

Zelenskyy said there were absolutely constructive proposals, including a military contingent and NATO's Article 5. He clarified that it is not about Article 5 itself, but about the forces and protection provided for in NATO countries by Article 5.

"Relevant proposals have been made, and we are awaiting a response," he added.

Background

During his visit to South Africa, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that new proposals discussed at the April 23 meeting in London were already on the table of US President Donald Trump. He emphasized that any peace deal must not contradict the Constitution of Ukraine.

Specifically, following the US proposal, which reportedly included recognizing Crimea and parts of the occupied Ukrainian territories as Russian, alternative suggestions emerged and were submitted to Trump.

According to RBC-Ukraine's sources, a certain document was agreed upon during the London meeting, which Trump’s special envoy, Keith Kellogg, later took to Washington.

"It contains a shared vision of the Europeans, France, Britain, Germany, and Ukraine regarding the war," the source explained.

What’s in the document

According to The Telegraph, during the talks in London, Ukraine and its European partners developed their own version of a plan to resolve the war with Russia.
