Zelenskyy backs new long-range operations as Ukraine steps up pressure on Russia

Some long-range operations against Russia have been adjusted, while Ukraine has approved new strikes on enemy targets inside Russian territory, according to a post by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi, Chief of the General Staff Ihor Skybiuk, and acting Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reviewed the implementation of Ukraine's long-range operations plan against Russia.
"We discussed in detail the implementation of the plan for long-range actions against Russia, as well as our mid-range strikes. Some operations were adjusted, and new operations were approved," Zelenskyy said.
According to the president, Ukraine's long-range capabilities remain one of the key tools in its confrontation with Russia.
Zelenskyy stressed that the precision of such operations allows Ukraine to deny the enemy the initiative in the war while creating conditions that could support diplomatic efforts.
The president also thanked the personnel involved in carrying out long-range operations, specifically highlighting the Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces, the missile troops, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and Ukraine's intelligence agencies.
Other issues discussed
The meeting also focused on the battlefield situation and reinforcing key sectors, particularly in the Donetsk region.
Military personnel appointments and staffing proposals were also discussed.
"Some decisions have already been prepared, and there will be more decisions to come," Zelenskyy said.
In addition, considerable attention was devoted to air defense and protecting frontline and border communities, regional centers, and Kyiv from Russian attacks. Zelenskyy emphasized that strengthening air defenses should remain a priority for countries capable of assisting Ukraine.
Earlier, the Unmanned Systems Forces outlined the key targets of Ukraine's long-range strikes against Russia.
These primarily include the fuel sector, defense-industrial facilities, and the logistics networks that support them.
In the first half of 2026, Ukraine's deep-strike capabilities hit 697 targets inside Russia.
