Ukraine offers US its terms of peace: Telegraph reveals contents of document

During negotiations in London, Ukraine, together with European partners, developed its own version of a plan to resolve the war with Russia. It has already been handed over to the United States, according to The Telegraph.
The agency writes that detailed information about the five-point package of Kyiv’s demands was provided to The Telegraph, "revealing major differences still remain with America’s seven-point plan, which emerged this week."
Crimea is the key issue
"At the center of the demands is an insistence that Crimea – Ukrainian land annexed by Putin’s forces in 2014 – is not formally recognized as Russian," the article states.
Details of the demands put forward by Ukraine were disclosed in a five-point plan, which, according to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is on the table before Trump.
The Ukrainian president has already commented on the plan at a press conference in South Africa.
"After the proposal from the United States, other papers appeared, and I believe that today, this format, this document, is on President Trump’s desk. Anything that contradicts our values or our constitution cannot be part of any agreements," Zelenskyy stated.
What points the Ukrainian document includes
The dossier of demands reviewed by The Telegraph clearly shows that Ukraine hopes to effectively eliminate any formal international recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea or other occupied territories.
Points one and two focus on formulating any peace agreement as "based on international law, not on capitulation," with a specific warning about a possible Chinese invasion of Taiwan.
"They also stress the importance of clear “security guarantees” as the price for any prospective peace agreement that would see Ukraine cede territory to Russia, even on a temporary basis," journalists reveal in detail.
The third point "is an attempt to take away from Trump's control over the negotiations and return Ukraine to the center of the peace process."
The fourth point serves as a warning both to the United States and NATO that allowing Russia to control Crimea enables it to threaten not only with attacks on Ukraine but also on Black Sea allies — Türkiye, Romania, and Bulgaria.
The fifth and final point clearly shows that Russia must not be allowed to use the agreement to limit the number of Ukraine’s armed forces or its defense-industrial base.
US peace plan on Ukraine
This week, the United States published its plan, in particular regarding a ceasefire and, more broadly, the end of the war.
According to this document, the US has, in effect, officially declared that it supports freezing the war in Ukraine almost along the current front line.
Washington’s plan also contains proposals for recognizing Crimea as Russian and recognizing the occupation and other territories seized by the aggressor.
This plan was immediately rejected by Ukraine. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine will not give up the occupied territories and will not recognize them as part of the Russian Federation.
This position led to the cancellation in London of a meeting at the level of foreign ministers between the US, Ukraine, and European countries regarding the peace settlement. It was held at a lower diplomatic level.
