US President Donald Trump does not yet have a plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine. Work on it will begin in February, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with The Economist.

"I’m sure there isn’t a ready plan yet. Why? Because a plan can’t be purely American. Because the war is happening here. And without our joint work, without consulting us, I think it can’t be complete. President Trump’s team probably has some developments. I’m sure they do, because it’s a very important issue for them," Zelenskyy said.

He noted that Ukraine has not yet seen or heard any proposals from the US.

"I think February will be the month when this work begins. I think President Trump is dealing with domestic issues in the United States, and I think that’s his priority. At least, that’s what we see in the public domain, and I don’t have any other information," the president added.

Trump’s plan

Even before the US presidential election, Donald Trump stated that if he won, he planned to quickly end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Immediately after his inauguration on January 20, Trump called on Russian President Putin to make a deal to end the war against Ukraine, threatening increased sanctions.

According to Western media, he allegedly tasked special envoy Keith Kellogg with ending the war within 100 days, though no official peace initiatives have been announced.

It was recently reported that Kellogg will attend the Munich Security Conference, scheduled for February 14-16. There, he is likely to discuss the war in Ukraine but noted he would not present a peace plan.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Trump does not yet have an official plan to end the war in Ukraine.

However, in recent days, media reports suggested that Kellogg is preparing to present Trump with a plan to end the war in Ukraine.

Trump himself recently claimed that the US had made "tremendous progress" in negotiations with Moscow and Kyiv over the past week, and a peace deal could be reached.
