Zelenskyy and Trudeau discuss aftermath of Poltava attack and strengthening Ukraine's air defense
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has a phone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. They discussed Russia's strike on a training center in Poltava, according to the Telegram channel of Zelenskyy.
According to Zelenskyy, during a conversation with Trudeau, he told him about the rescue operation after the Russian shelling of Poltava. The Prime Minister of Canada expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and the entire Ukrainian people.
"We discussed the continuation of defense cooperation between Ukraine and Canada. I talked about the current needs of our Defense Forces, including additional air defense systems and armored vehicles," Zelenskyy wrote.
They also discussed joint efforts within the drone coalition and the implementation of the bilateral security agreement signed on February 24 of this year.
"I urged the Canadian Prime Minister to enhance advocacy among partners for allowing Ukraine to strike military targets within the aggressor country and to provide the necessary means for this," Zelenskyy stated.
Earlier, in mid-June, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada would provide Ukraine with over $15 million to help repair energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks.
