Zelenskyy and Macron discuss enhancing Ukraine's air defense and naval capabilities
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conversation with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, today, on October 18th, according to a statement from the head of Ukraine.
"Ukraine highly values France’s military aid. President Macron and I focused on the next steps to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, long-range, and naval capabilities," the statement reads.
The leaders of both countries also discussed the Black Sea Grain Corridor and ways to protect it, as well as the upcoming rounds of negotiations on the Peace Formula.
Zelenskyy adds that regarding the Middle East topic, they both emphasized the need to protect civilian populations and avoid further escalation in the region.
French assistance
Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, stated that France would strengthen its assistance to Ukraine, with new shipments being prepared.
Former Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Oleksii Reznikov, recently held very productive negotiations with the French Minister of Defense, Sébastien Lecornu.
Following this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had thorough discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron. They discussed defense, the grain deal, and security guarantees for Ukraine.
On September 28, during Lecornu's visit to Kyiv, he also met with Zelenskyy. The parties discussed the strengthening of Ukraine's air defense and the possibility of joint production of specific weapons.
