Zaporizhzhia rescue operation wraps up after Russian airstrike: Aftermath clarified
Rescue operations in Zaporizhzhia were completed after a Russian airstrike hit the city on the evening of December 6. The attack killed ten people and left more than twenty others injured, reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (MIA).
The ministry stated that the Russian shelling in Zaporizhzhia resulted in ten fatalities, including eight people who were in vehicles at the time.
“The number of casualties has increased to 24, including three children - a four-month-old baby, 4 and 11 years old,” the MIA stated.

The ministry also reported that by midnight, the emergency and rescue operations in Zaporizhzhia had been completed.
“Emergency and municipal services were working at the scene,” the MIA statement said.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Zaporizhzhia regional prosecutor’s office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of a war crime that caused civilian casualties (Article 2, Section 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
“According to the investigation, on December 6, 2024, at approximately 6:00 PM (Kyiv time -ed.), the Russian army carried out an airstrike on one of the districts of Zaporizhzhia... A car repair complex was completely destroyed, and shops, apartment buildings, and other infrastructure were damaged,” the Office of the Prosecutor General reported.

Russian airstrike on Zaporizhzhia on December 6
On the evening of Friday, December 6, explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region, with reports of Russian aviation launching guided bombs towards the area.
Later, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, confirmed that Russian forces had struck Zaporizhzhia, starting a fire at an auto repair shop and causing casualties.
The number of victims from the Russian shelling has continued to rise. Initially, four deaths were reported, then nine, and the most recent data indicates ten confirmed fatalities.
The Regional Military Administration also released photos and videos showing the aftermath of the Russian airstrike on Zaporizhzhia.
It was also reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the Russian attacks on Ukraine, including the shelling of Zaporizhzhia, on the evening of St. Nicholas Day.
