US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a phone call, during which they discussed Russia's war against Ukraine, according to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Xi Jinping told Trump that since their meeting in South Korea, relations between the United States and China have maintained a stable and positive trajectory. He urged the American leader to "keep up the momentum, keep moving forward in the right direction on the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefit, lengthen the list of cooperation and shorten the list of problems, so as to make more positive progress."

They also discussed the Taiwan issue separately. Xi Jinping warned that "Taiwan's return to China is an integral part of the post-war international order."

Trump and Xi Jinping also addressed Russia's war against Ukraine.

"President Xi emphasized China's support for all efforts that are conducive to peace, and expressed the hope that the various sides would narrow their differences, reach a fair, lasting, and binding peace agreement at an early date, and resolve the crisis at its root," the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated.

China's position on the war in Ukraine

Chinese officials have repeatedly stated that Beijing maintains a neutral position regarding Russia's war against Ukraine.

At the same time, components of Chinese origin have repeatedly been found in Russian weapons.

In July, it was revealed that China had been supplying Russia with drone engines disguised as refrigerator parts.

Additionally, last week, Chinese Premier Li Qiang stated that his country is ready to deepen cooperation with Russia.
