The US considers the war between Ukraine and Russia to be one of the most important conflicts to resolve. Washington is confident that it will succeed, states US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff at the American Business Forum in Miami.
He emphasized that there has been some progress in resolving the war in Ukraine and added that this conflict “needs to be settled next” after Gaza.
"We have a lot of work to do with regard to security protocols for Ukraine. There are a lot of discussions that technical teams have to have at the lower level before the leaders can get to a deal," said Trump’s special envoy.
According to him, the US leader is constantly monitoring the issue of resolving the war in Ukraine.
Trump’s statements on the war in Ukraine
US leader Donald Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin contacted him two weeks ago for help in resolving the war in Ukraine.
According to Trump, during the phone conversation, Putin told him that he has been trying to end the war for 10 years but has been unable to do so.
Notably, Trump recently stated that the war in Ukraine could be resolved in a short period, approximately a few months. In response to a journalist’s question about whether it is possible to end the war in "a couple of months," the US president answered affirmatively.
The American president also believes that the aggressor country seeks to restore contacts with Washington.
Additionally, Trump said that he has managed to end eight wars and expressed confidence that the war between Ukraine and Russia "will be the ninth" that he can resolve.
