US President Donald Trump expressed confidence in an interview with CBS News that the war in Ukraine could be resolved in a short period, roughly within a couple of months.

When asked by a journalist whether he believed the war in Ukraine could end "within a couple of months," Trump responded affirmatively.

"I think we're gonna get it done, yeah," he said.

The American leader also added that, in his view, Moscow is seeking to reestablish contact with Washington.

"I think he (Russian leader Vladimir Putin — ed.) really wants to do business with the US,” Trump noted.

Commenting on his own approach to foreign policy, the White House chief emphasized that his experience in trade had helped him achieve results in relations with various countries.

"It did work with India, and it did work with Pakistan, and it did work with 60% of those countries. I can tell you, if it wasn't for tariffs and trade, I wouldn't have been able to make the deals," Trump said.

Earlier, Trump said that he had managed to end eight wars and expressed confidence that the war between Russia and Ukraine would become the ninth one he could resolve.

"I just solved eight wars, and a ninth is coming. I believe Russia and Ukraine will happen," the US President said aboard Air Force One.
