White House responds to calls for Biden to resign immediately
The White House has denied the possibility of President Joe Biden resigning before the end of his term, states White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
According to her, the current president is firmly committed to achieving even greater successes for the country before the end of his term.
"This is an answer to the suggestions that I've heard about his resigning from the office: We believe... and any suggestion of that note is ridiculous," Jean-Pierre said.
She also noted that President Biden has made significant achievements since the beginning of his tenure.
"He has accomplished more in nearly one term than most presidents have in two terms. The president remains focused on fighting for the American people and building on the historical progress," the White House Press Secretary said.
Jean-Pierre also emphasized that President Joe Biden did not step out of the race due to doubts about his ability to govern the country.
In this context, she quoted a written statement from the president, which he sent on Sunday: "It is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term."
Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race
On July 21, President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race. According to him, this decision is in the country's best interest.
As a replacement, Biden proposed Vice President Kamala Harris as the presidential candidate.
Following the decision, some members of the Republican Party called for Biden to resign from the office of President of the US.
