Biden offers Kamala Harris as Democratic presidential candidate
US President Joe Biden has proposed Vice President Kamala Harris as a candidate for the US presidency.
Biden addressed his fellow Democrats and noted that he had personally decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all his energy on serving as president for the remainder of my term.
“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it's been the best decision I've made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats - it's time to come together and beat Trump. Let's do this,” he emphasized.
Today, Biden announced that he was withdrawing from the election. This happened after prolonged pressure from the Democrats and several failed speeches by the president, including a failed debate with Biden's main opponent in the election, former US President Donald Trump.
Trump, in turn, reacted to Biden's withdrawal from the race.
Shortly before Biden's withdrawal from the race, allies of Vice President Kamala Harris began to attract Democratic donors to provide her with financial support in case President Joe Biden drops out of the race in 2024. Read more about this in the article.
