The Kremlin has stated that it will consider the idea of a ceasefire in Ukraine, which has been supported by European leaders and US President Donald Trump, informs CNN.

The journalist noted that European leaders, who are currently in Kyiv for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called for a 30-day ceasefire to begin on Monday.

At the same time, he pointed out that Europe and the US are threatening Russia with massive sanctions and assert that President Trump supports this initiative. In light of this, the journalist asked whether the Kremlin believes this could be an attempt to corner Russia.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded that he does not consider this an attempt to exert pressure. He also mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin had recently declared a three-day ceasefire.

He noted that, in his opinion, Kyiv now wants to turn those three days into 30 days.

"We have to think about that... These are new developments. So, we have our own position. Yes, definitely, we see that Europe is confronting us. Europe is actually confronting us very openly. We feel it, we know it, and we are quite accustomed to that," Peskov added.

Notably, today, Russia reacted arrogantly to the deadline for a ceasefire set by the Coalition of the Willing.

"We are already accustomed to sanctions. We even imagine what we will do after these sanctions are announced, how we will minimize their consequences, and so on. We have learned this, so trying to scare us with sanctions is pointless," Peskov said.

Deadline for the ceasefire

Today, May 10, a number of European leaders arrived in Kyiv. Among them were French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

They held a meeting with President Zelenskyy and then called President Trump.

After the leaders' conversation, it became clear that Ukraine and all its allies are ready for a full, unconditional ceasefire on land, in the air, and at sea for at least 30 days, starting Monday, May 12.

Zelenskyy confirmed that the ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia will begin on Monday, May 12.

He also emphasized that the Kremlin will face new sanctions if it rejects the full and unconditional ceasefire.

According to an RBC-Ukraine source, President Zelenskyy is open to any format of talks, provided there is an unconditional ceasefire.
