'We are not going back,' Kamala Harris caps off DNC 2024
Current US Vice President and Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris believes that America could return to a dangerous path of politics if Donald Trump is re-elected for a second term, citing CNN.
Harris stated that she attempted to align all of Trump's political views with Project 2025, a 920-page document that serves as the manifesto for his actions if re-elected. She is convinced that this document shows what Donald Trump's second term in power would be like.
"Consider what he intends to do if we give him power again. Consider his explicit intent to set free violent extremists who assaulted those law enforcement officers at the Capitol. His explicit intent is to jail journalists, political opponents, and anyone he sees as the enemy. His explicit intent to deploy our active duty military against our own citizens," Harris said.
She is convinced that the goal of Project 2025 and Trump himself is to "pull our country back to the past."
"But, America, we are not going back," Harris noted in her speech.
CNN adds that Project 2025, mentioned by the current vice president, was created by The Heritage Foundation think tank and a significant number of people who were part of the Trump administration were involved in its development. Trump has publicly distanced himself from this initiative.
Kamala Harris's election campaign
After Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race, he suggested supporting Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's candidate for the US presidency.
In a month of active campaigning, the vice president's team raised a record amount of contributions and held a series of meetings with voters, actively increasing the number of supporters.
During the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which took place from August 19 to 22, Harris was officially recognized as the Democratic Party's candidate for US president. The convention also approved Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as the vice-presidential candidate.
