Von der Leyen pledges full support after first call with Ukraine's new PM

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukraine's new Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi held a phone call on July 20, von der Leyen reported.
"Very good phone call with Serhii Koretskyi," von der Leyen wrote.
She also pledged that productive cooperation on reforms advancing Ukraine's path toward EU membership would continue.
According to the European Commission president, the Drone Deal between Kyiv and Brussels will help leverage the EU's industrial capacity for the rapid, large-scale production of Ukraine's most innovative defense equipment.
In addition, von der Leyen and Koretskyi discussed preparations for winter, as well as the protection of critical energy infrastructure.
"You can count on our full support, including in your work to improve the energy sector's governance," the European Commission president assured him.
Von der Leyen was among the first EU leaders to react to Serhii Koretskyi's appointment as Ukraine's new prime minister.
She expressed hope that the new head of government would make Ukraine's European integration the central element of the country's transformation efforts.
Koretskyi earlier made his first statement after his appointment and named his top priority.
Naftogaz, Ukraine's state-owned oil and gas company, also appointed a new CEO to replace Koretskyi.
It was also reported on who joined the new Cabinet of Ministers.
