Pope Francis' condition remains stable on March 4, with no episodes of respiratory failure or bronchospasm, according to Vatican News.

The Vatican press office stated that the Pope did not experience any respiratory distress or bronchospasms today. His health remains stable, though the prognosis remains cautious.

This morning, he was placed on high-flow oxygen therapy and underwent respiratory physiotherapy. As planned, non-invasive ventilation will be resumed in the evening.

The Vatican added that the Pope’s clinical condition remains stable regarding his heart, kidneys, and blood parameters, though the overall situation remains complex.

"During the day, he alternated between spending time in prayer and at rest, and this morning he received the Eucharist," the press office reported.

What is known about the Pope’s condition

On February 9, Pope Francis shortened his sermon due to breathing difficulties. He explained that he was experiencing respiratory issues caused by a bout of bronchitis. Later, he was hospitalized.

It was later revealed that the Pope had bilateral pneumonia. A chest CT scan indicated a complicated condition requiring further pharmacological treatment.

On March 1, he was placed on mechanical ventilation as his respiratory condition worsened following an isolated bronchospasm.
