US supports Europe’s plans for coalition to ensure peace in Ukraine

The United States welcomes Europe’s intent to form a coalition to help ensure peace between Ukraine and Russia. However, the specifics of America's contribution to this initiative remain uncertain, stated US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, CNN reports.
“We welcome the Europeans taking a lead in European security. I mean, that’s been an underpinning. They have to invest in the capability to do that,” Waltz stated.
He also noted that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron are "certainly showing a will" to achieve peace between Ukraine and Russia, as seen during their visits to Washington last week.
“So we welcome Europe stepping up for Europe, but they also have to invest in the capabilities to do so,” Waltz clarified.
Additionally, he mentioned that even before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House on February 28, it was clear that Europe intended to increase its contribution to Ukraine's security.
"All of that was evidence and repeatedly communicated to the Ukrainians and he could have then left with an economic guarantee that would have benefited Ukraine and the world for a generation," he said.
A new coalition
Yesterday, on March 2, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that he created a coalition of countries that would be ready to ensure peace between Ukraine and Russia.
According to him, this includes sending soldiers to Ukraine. Those countries that are ready to take such a step “intensify planning.”
