US promises to 'defend every inch of NATO territory' after drone attack on Poland

The United States firmly supports its allies in the face of the violation of Poland’s airspace by Russian drones, promising to "defend every inch of NATO territory," stated US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker.
"We stand by our NATO Allies in the face of these airspace violations and will defend every inch of NATO territory," he emphasized.
Russian drones in Poland
On the night of September 10, Russia’s drones for the first time also reached Poland, a NATO member. At least 19 drones entered Polish territory, four of which were shot down.
Due to the massive attack and potential threat, airports in Warsaw, Lublin, and Rzeszów temporarily suspended operations.
According to Polish Interior Ministry spokeswoman Karolina Galecka, authorities have so far identified seven drones and "remains of a missile of unidentified origin."
Poland appealed to NATO to invoke Article 4 of the Treaty over the incursion of Russian UAVs.
In response, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization activated Article 4 regarding the violation of Poland’s airspace by Russian drones. This allows member states to discuss the situation with allies in the North Atlantic Council.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also praised the actions of NATO allies in response to Russia’s drone attack on Poland, calling it a successful effort to ensure the defense of a member state.
