Houthi attacks and US countermeasures
Last autumn, the pro-Islamic terrorist group Houthi rebels began attacking commercial vessels linked to Israel, the US, and Western countries from Yemeni territory. The assaults started following the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel.
In response, the US and EU countries began to protect civilian ships in the region.
From July 12 to 13, US and coalition forces destroyed three drones in Yemen that posed a threat. Previously, US military forces had destroyed Houthi ships and a radar station in the Red Sea.
Additionally, on July 19, the Houthis launched a new type of drone at Israel’s capital, Tel Aviv, resulting in casualties and injuries.
The Israeli military responded to the attack with a large-scale bombardment of Yemen.
