US military aid for Ukraine to cover needs by the end of 2025, State Department says
The Biden administration continues to provide military assistance to Ukraine. This supply of weapons, equipment, and materials is expected to sustain the country until the end of next year, reports US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
“We believe that that the resources that we have already provided them and that we have on – that we are still on track to provide them before the end of the administration give them the equipment, the material they need to fight through the end of 2025,” Miller said.
However, Miller did not specify how much of the extensive military aid package, approved by the US Congress last spring, remains available to the government.
The State Department spokesperson referred to the Pentagon for further details regarding the remaining aid.
On Friday, December 13, the US announced a new $500 million military aid package. It includes ammunition for HIMARS, 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, precision-guided HARM missiles, drones, and more.
Additionally, it was reported yesterday that NATO is now coordinating military aid from Western countries to Ukraine. Previously, the United States had handled this role.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the US had already transferred $20 billion to Ukraine through an account at the World Bank. The funds were provided as a loan but will be repaid from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.
