Twenty-three US lawmakers have written to President Donald Trump, asking him to pressure Elon Musk to restore Ukraine's full access to Starlink satellite systems, according to The Hill.

Congress members appeal to Trump

A bipartisan group of 23 House members is urging President Trump to contact Elon Musk about restoring Ukraine's access to high-speed Starlink connectivity for strikes against Russian targets.

The group includes seven House Republicans and 16 Democrats, the outlet reports.

"We are writing to urge you to ask Elon Musk to let Ukraine use the Starlink satellite internet system to hunt for missile launchers inside Russia," the lawmakers wrote.

They believe the move would also "save lives and give Vladimir Putin greater incentives to negotiate."

The lawmakers stressed that if Ukraine cannot reliably intercept Russian "arrows," it must be able to shoot at the "archer." Starlink provides that capability, they argued.

Who signed the letter

Republican signatories include staunch supporters of Ukraine:

  • Joe Wilson (South Carolina)

  • Brian Fitzpatrick (Pennsylvania)

  • Don Bacon (Nebraska)

  • Carlos Gimenez (Florida)

  • Jeff Hurd (Colorado)

  • Andy Harris (Maryland)

  • Max Miller (Ohio)

"Mr. President, we all share the goal of bringing an end to the war in Ukraine and the devastating loss of life it has caused. Unfortunately, Putin presently has no intention of stopping the bloodshed," the lawmakers wrote.

The bipartisan letter comes as more Republicans have expressed outrage over disruptions to Starlink and its military version, Starshield, in Ukraine. The disruptions are hindering air defense missions and offensive operations.

RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick said that if Elon Musk had ordered Starlink to be slowed down in Ukraine, "that is likely a violation of the law."

In addition, the European Commission has called on SpaceX to restore Starlink's full high-speed service in Ukraine.
