The closure of the embassy in Kyiv is linked to the threat of a combined attack, not Russia's nuclear rhetoric, says an RBC-Ukraine source in the US embassy in Ukraine.

"The embassy closure is related to air raid warnings, including an increasing potential threat of a combined attack involving drones and missiles, as happened recently," the source said.

When asked whether the closure was connected to Russia’s statement about lowering its threshold for a nuclear strike, the source replied: "No. The embassy closure is linked to the ongoing threats of air attacks."

Warning about attacks on Ukraine

The US embassy in Kyiv warned about possible strikes on Ukraine on November 20. In response, the diplomatic mission is temporarily closed, and employees have been advised to stay in shelters.

Spain and Italy have also announced the temporary closure of their embassies in Kyiv, citing the threat of Russian attacks. Later, Greece followed suit, closing its embassy as well.

Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council, emphasized that Russia has been stockpiling missiles for several months to carry out a series of strikes on Ukraine.
