Following US, Spain and Italy embassies close due to 'security threat'
The embassies of Spain and Italy have suspended operations for the day due to a potential "security threat", Agencia EFE reports.
"The US and Spanish embassies in Kyiv have decided to temporarily close their offices after receiving 'specific' information about a possible 'major' airstrike on the city," the Spanish news agency wrote.
The Italian embassy also announced the suspension of its operations.
"The US embassy has shared information on its website about a possible high-intensity airstrike today, November 20. As a precaution, the embassy in Kyiv will be closed to the public today," the Italian embassy's website stated.
Risk of airstrike on Ukraine
Today, the US embassy confirmed receiving specific information about a 'potential significant air attack' on Ukraine, which led to the closure of the diplomatic facility.
Furthermore, the US embassy provided recommendations for its citizens:
- monitor updates from local media;
- identify the nearest shelters in advance;
- proceed to a shelter immediately if an air raid alert is announced;
- follow instructions from local authorities and emergency services.
