US at UN: Trump puts forward peace plan for Ukraine and Russia

US President Donald Trump has proposed a way out of the conflict for Ukraine and Russia. The US is asking the countries to accept it, states Dorothy Shea, Acting US Permanent Representative to the UN.
She noted that, given the intensification of Russia’s air attacks against Ukraine and the rising number of civilian casualties, on July 29, US President Donald Trump clearly stated that the countries must sign a peace agreement within 10 days.
"Otherwise, the United States is prepared to implement additional measures to secure peace. President Trump is offering both Russia and Ukraine a way out of this conflict. Once again, we implore them to take it," Shea said.
The Acting US Representative also added that victory over the ravages of war is best for both the Russian and Ukrainian peoples.
"We call on all UN member states to join us in this effort," she added.
Shea also noted that in July, Russia launched 6,400 drones against Ukraine, which is 18% more than in June (5,438 drones). The US representative emphasized that such attacks must stop.
UN Security Council meeting and the attack on Ukraine
On the evening of August 1, a UN Security Council meeting took place. The topic of the meeting was Maintaining Peace and Security in Ukraine.
The reason for the meeting was the massive Russian shelling of Kyiv on the night of July 31, which resulted in the death of 31 people.
Russia used 309 attack drones and eight Iskander-K cruise missiles with cluster warheads for the attack.
