A serious accident involving Ukrainians occurred on the S17 highway near Warsaw, Poland. There were injuries reported, according to lublin112.pl.
On June 24, at around 3:00 AM, a serious accident occurred at the 88th kilometer of the S17 expressway in the direction of Warsaw.
According to the head of the Ryki district police in Poland, two vehicles were involved: a Volkswagen cargo van driven by a 22-year-old Ukrainian citizen and a Renault truck with a semi-trailer driven by a 61-year-old Ukrainian man.
Police confirmed that both drivers were sober and had valid driving documents.
Preliminary findings indicate that the van driver failed to adjust his speed to road conditions and crashed into the semi-trailer of the truck.
At the time of the accident, there were eight passengers in the van, all of whom were Ukrainian citizens. As a result of the collision, four people were injured and hospitalized, with one of them evacuated by air ambulance.
The 22-year-old driver of the Volkswagen has been detained. Law enforcement is investigating the circumstances of the crash under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.
Due to the accident, traffic on the S17 highway toward Warsaw was completely blocked for several hours. Drivers were required to use a detour via Voivodeship Road No. 839, resulting in congestion in the region. The lane has now been reopened, and traffic has returned to normal.
Police once again reminded drivers to stay alert, especially at night, and not to exceed speed limits in order to prevent similar accidents.
The first group of Ukrainian teenagers and their accompanying adults who were injured in a bus crash in France on June 13 has returned to Ukraine. A total of 40 people arrived.
It is currently known that, following the accident in France, one of the two Ukrainian drivers operating the bus during the crash was officially charged with involuntary manslaughter and causing bodily harm.
