Ukrainian paratroopers capture 7 Russian tanks in Kursk region
Ukrainian paratroopers have captured seven Russian tanks since the beginning of the fighting in the Kursk region. Among them is a new Russian T-90M, according to the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The soldiers of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of Halychyna captured the newest T-90M, four T-80 BVM vehicles, and two T-72 tanks.
“I've always dreamed of capturing a Russian tank,” said one of the Ukrainian paratroopers.
The military, together with the Security Service, managed to capture several new T-80 BVMs on the outskirts of the town of Sudzha in the first days of fighting in the Kursk region.
According to the brigade officer, the captured tanks will be a good addition and will strengthen the tank fist of Lviv paratroopers in future battles with the Russians.
The officer says that some of the captured tanks have low mileage and have practically just come off the assembly line. Others need repair.
Fighting in Kursk region
Since August 6, Ukrainian forces have been conducting an offensive in the Kursk region of Russia. According to a recent report by the head of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukraine has taken control of a hundred settlements. Fighting continues in the border areas.
Over the past day, Ukrainian soldiers have advanced another 2 kilometers in the Kursk region.
As President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained earlier, Ukraine's Kursk operation helped to avert the threat of a Russian offensive in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
