Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region of Russia have advanced another two kilometers. Also, the exchange fund has been replenished, says Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi during a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff.

“The offensive continues in the Kursk sector. Over the past day, our troops have advanced up to two kilometers in some areas,” Syrskyi said.

Ukrainian troops took control of another five square kilometers of territory in the Kursk region.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian military is replenishing the exchange fund during the operation in the Kursk region, emphasizing that this is important for strengthening Ukraine's position in the prisoner exchange process.

Fighting in Kursk region

Since August 6, fighting has been ongoing in the border areas of the Kursk region. The Ukrainian military is conducting an offensive operation. According to Ukrainian Armed Forces chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, the military has taken control of about 100 settlements.

Ukraine announced the establishment of a buffer zone and a military commandant's office in the Kursk region.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated said the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region helped to remove the threat from the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.

Analysts and Western intelligence do not rule out that Putin's troops will try to counterattack in the Kursk region, but it will be a difficult operation.
