Trump hints at meeting Putin if talks with Zelenskyy succeed

US President Donald Trump has promised to schedule a meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin if talks with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy on August 18 go successfully, according to the social media platform Truth Social.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Trump on the social media platform Truth Social.
"President Zelenskyy will be coming to D.C., the Oval Office, on Monday afternoon. If all works out, we will then schedule a meeting with President Putin," he said.
According to Trump, "millions of people's lives will be saved" if the meeting takes place.
Earlier, on his way from Alaska to Washington, Donald Trump held phone conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO leaders. He spoke about the outcome of his meeting with Putin.
Zelenskyy announced that on Monday, August 18, he will travel to Washington to discuss details of ending the war with Trump.
Trump and Putin meet in Alaska
