A Russian military train was blown up by Ukrainian scouts near Melitopol, disrupting the occupiers' logistics, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU).

"On the night of May 31, an explosion occurred on a railway section near the temporarily occupied settlement of Yakymivka in the Melitopol district of Zaporizhzhia region — a military train belonging to the Russian occupiers was blown up," the statement reads.

According to the DIU, the freight train was heading toward the temporarily occupied Crimea.

As a result of the explosion on the railway track, a train carrying fuel tanks and freight cars derailed. The key logistical artery for the Moscow forces in the occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia region and Crimea has been disrupted, the intelligence service reported.

Following the explosion, the occupiers declared a "plan interception" — patrols from the Russian National Guard have been conducting searches in the settlements.

"Checkpoints are especially thorough for anyone entering or leaving," the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) warned.

Not the first incident

The morning of June 1 was marked by multiple emergency events involving trains and Russia’s railway infrastructure.

Partisans carried out a successful sabotage operation on a new railway section between Volnovakha and Mariupol in Donetsk region, significantly weakening the occupiers’ defensive capabilities on the front line.

Additionally, overnight on June 1, another bridge in Russia gave way. In Kursk region, part of a train fell onto a highway below the bridge.
