Ukrainian Navy responds regarding presence of Russian missile carriers in Black Sea today
As of 06:00 on October 18, Ukrainian military forces have again detected a Russian missile carrier in the Black Sea. However, it does not pose a threat to Ukraine, according to the morning report from the Ukrainian Navy.
In particular, today in the Black Sea, one ship was spotted, which is a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles. However, its total missile salvo as of today stands at zero.
In the Sea of Azov, as in previous days and weeks, there are no Russian vessels present. However, military forces have detected four Russian ships in the Mediterranean Sea, three of which are Kalibr missile carriers with a total salvo capacity of up to 16 missiles.
Additionally, over the past day, the following vessels passed through the Kerch Strait in the interest of Russia:
- to the Black Sea - 6 ships, 4 of which continued their course toward the Bosphorus Strait;
- to the Sea of Azov - 9 ships, 2 of which were moving from the Bosphorus Strait.
"Russia continues to violate the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) of 1974 by turning off their automatic identification systems," the Ukrainian Navy stated.
Recently, the Spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, stated during a television marathon that the Russian fleet can no longer effectively influence the course of military operations in Ukraine. As for the Mediterranean Sea, the enemy also cannot gain access from there.
