Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson proposed his peace plan to former US President Donald Trump solely on his own initiative. However, he is acting in the interests of Ukraine, according to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna.

"Former Prime Minister Johnson is acting solely on his own initiative; these are his personal views. However, I believe we should also appreciate his bravery. After all, he arranged the meeting with Trump on his own initiative," noted the official.

According to her, during the discussions with Trump, Johnson tried to explain the situation in Ukraine. Such a voice, as the Deputy Prime Minister added, is very valuable because the former British Prime Minister has authority, recognition, and communication with Republicans.

"Certainly, he has the right to his opinion. He is acting in the best interests of Ukraine and can afford to do so because he knows our President's (Volodymyr Zelenskyy - ed.) position and the position of Ukrainians. He is taking these steps trying to create a space for discussion," emphasized Stefanishyna.

On July 21, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson unveiled a peace plan for Ukraine that could potentially be used by Donald Trump if he is re-elected as US President.

The plan proposes that Russian soldiers should withdraw to the territories they occupied before February 24, 2024.

Johnson also suggests replacing some American soldiers in European countries with Ukrainians to counter the Russian threat.

This initiative was published by the former British Prime Minister a few days after he met with Donald Trump in the United States.
