Ukrainian Ground Forces Commander gives insight into ongoing counteroffensive
Ukrainian forces continue to advance in the Bakhmut direction, disrupting enemy plans and inflicting losses in the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, according to the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskii, cited by the Military Media Center on Telegram.
"All day I worked at the command centers and military units operating on the most active frontlines," Syrskii said.
In the Bakhmut direction
According to the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, his work was dedicated to addressing current issues related to increasing the pace of advancement, prospects for further actions, and resolving matters that hinder the successful completion of assigned tasks.
In the Lyman and Kupiansk directions
Syrskii discussed the adequate response to enemy advances, enhancing the effectiveness of fire strikes, countering drones, and ensuring the well-being of our soldiers. He also met with junior commanders and representatives of the non-commissioned officer corps of the Armed Forces, presenting military awards and gifts.
"There was an open conversation about all the issues that require urgent resolution. For this purpose, specific tasks were assigned to the relevant officers," Syrskii added.
As noted by the Commander of the Ground Forces, despite the enemy's active offensive actions on the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, our troops continue to thwart their plans, inflicting significant personnel and equipment losses on them, and reducing their offensive potential.
"In the Bakhmut direction, we continue to carry out offensive actions step by step. Despite strong enemy resistance, our fighters liberate territories, moving closer to victory!" Syrskii emphasized.
Frontline situation
According to the data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the past 24 hours, our soldiers eliminated approximately 620 occupiers. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost nearly 248,000 personnel.
As mentioned by the spokesperson of the Eastern Military Command of the Armed Forces, Serhii Cherevatyi, Ukrainian forces continue to advance on the flanks around Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, particularly in the southern direction.
In mid-July, Syrskii noted that all conditions had been created for the de-occupation of Bakhmut.
