Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responds to Hungary’s ban on Ukrainian media

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to Hungary’s blocking of several Ukrainian media outlets, calling it a block on Hungarians’ access to journalism, according to the MFA spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi.
"The difference is that Ukraine blocks Russian propaganda, whereas Orban's government blocks Hungarians' access to fact-based journalism. But for them, the farther from the truth the better," Tykhyi wrote on X.
In September, Ukraine blocked several foreign outlets, including Hungary’s Origo and Demokrata. The reason was the regular dissemination of Russian propaganda by these sites.
Earlier, Hungary decided to ban 12 Ukrainian news outlets in response to Ukraine’s blocking of pro-Russian Hungarian media.
"Following the principle of reciprocity, Hungary is today introducing mirror measures against Ukrainian news portals, so they will not be accessible in Hungary," stressed Gergely Gulyás, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office.
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sparked controversy with a new cynical statement. According to him, Ukraine is not a sovereign independent state, and therefore, there is no problem in violating its airspace.
Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that Hungarian drones had entered Ukraine’s airspace. He noted they might have been spying on the country’s defense industry.
