Ukrainian Foreign Minister discusses steps for 'grain deal' restoration with Turkish counterpart
Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, held a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, according to Haber Turk.
During the diplomatic exchange, the officials discussed potential steps to reinstate operations within the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
Kuleba stated that during his conversation with his Turkish counterpart, he emphasized that Russia's withdrawal from the deal would have a detrimental impact on African nations and global food security.
"I had a call with Hakan Fidan to discuss the Black Sea Grain Initiative. I stressed Russia's withdrawal's harmful impact on African countries and global food security," he wrote on Twitter.
Furthermore, the minister added that Türkiye will continue its efforts to restore the deal.
"We also discussed the schedule of bilateral contacts," he reported.
Grain deal
On July 17th, Russia declared its complete withdrawal from the "grain accord." In response, Ukraine expressed readiness to export grain under a trilateral arrangement. Simultaneously, Russia initiated shelling in Odesa, targeting ports and relevant infrastructure.
In reaction to these actions, the EU urged the G20 nations to exert pressure on Russia, compelling its return to the grain accord.
Subsequently, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin attempted to influence Africa, offering certain countries free grain.
