Ukrainian Foreign Minister arrives in China, unveils visit plans
On July 23, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba arrived in China. There he plans to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, according to the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Instagram.
"Extensive, detailed and substantive negotiations with my Chinese counterpart Wang Yi about paths to a just peace lie ahead. We must avoid competition between peace plans. It is crucial that Kyiv and Beijing engage in direct dialogue and exchange positions," Kuleba stated.
According to him, bilateral relations between the two countries are also scheduled for discussion.
The head of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that China should reassess its relationship with Ukraine through the lens of strategic relations with Europe, as Ukraine has recently started negotiations to join the EU.
Kuleba also noted that this is the first visit of a high-ranking Ukrainian official to China since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. Additionally, it is the first visit of a Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs to China since 2012.
