Ukraine's Defense Forces have struck a factory producing attack drones in the Yelabuga district of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, located over 1,000 km from Ukraine’s state border, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"On April 23, 2025, units of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces, carried out a strike on a facility producing attack UAVs (Geran-2, Shahed-type, and others)," the statement said.

According to the General Staff, the facility has a production capacity of around 300 drones per day. It is located in the Yelabuga district, 1,054 km from Ukraine's border.

The hits and explosions in the target area have been confirmed. The damage to the final assembly workshop has been reported. The results of the damage are being clarified.

"This strike is a justified response by Ukraine against a Russian strategic military facility used to support Russia’s armed aggression and its terror campaign against civilians in Ukraine," the General Staff emphasized.

Ukraine's strikes on Russian territory

On April 22, explosions rocked the 51st Arsenal of the Russian Defense Ministry’s Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) in Russia’s Vladimir region.

Due to the blasts and subsequent fire, authorities ordered evacuations in nearby settlements. Locals reported hearing drone activity shortly before the explosions.

The 51st GRAU arsenal reportedly stored around 105,000 tons of various types of weapons and missiles. According to RBC-Ukraine, it was considered one of the most heavily protected and difficult targets to strike.

Earlier, on April 15, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the base of Russia’s 448th Missile Brigade in the Kursk region. This same brigade was responsible for a missile attack on the city of Sumy two days earlier, on Palm Sunday, April 13.
