Ukraine’s Defense Forces have struck the permanent deployment point of Russia’s 448th Missile Brigade in the Kursk region. This is the same brigade that launched a missile attack on the city of Sumy on April 13, Palm Sunday, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces, and the Security Service of Ukraine, in coordination with other components of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, carried out strikes on multiple targets in the Kursk region.

These targets are connected to Russian military personnel involved in the missile strike on the city of Sumy on April 13, 2025, and in other war crimes against the people of Ukraine.

The permanent dislocation point of the 448th missile brigade of the Russian army was hit. Secondary detonation of ammunition was recorded. The results of the strike are currently being clarified.

"Every Russian military unit, subdivision, and soldier involved in strikes on peaceful cities and civilians in Ukraine will be identified and will inevitably be requited," the General Staff stated.

Russian missile strike on Sumy

The Russian army carried out a double ballistic missile strike on the city center of Sumy on Sunday, April 13.

According to Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the Russian army launched two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Voronezh and Kursk regions.

Local authorities reported that Russia used a missile with cluster munitions in the attack on Sumy, and the enemy missile detonated in the air. A large number of civilians were near the impact sites, leading to the deaths of more than 30 people. The highest number of fatalities occurred in a trolleybus passing close to the explosion site.

As of the morning of April 15, the number of injured had risen to 125, some of whom are still in hospital.
