Over the past few days, Russians have continued offensive operations along various sections of the front, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces have managed to halt them, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
"Russian forces continued offensive operations in northern Sumy Oblast on August 15 and 16 but did not make confirmed advances," US analysts note.
According to their data, Russia uses small infantry groups of one to three soldiers virtually every day to infiltrate between Ukrainian positions, disregarding constant casualties.
One of the main problems is that the grass in this area is over two meters tall. This makes it extremely difficult for Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers to identify small Russian groups.
Also, over the past two days, Russians attempted to break through in the north of the Kharkiv region, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped them in time.
Despite this, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have captured Kudiivka (north of Kharkiv—ed.). Moreover, the Russians tried to portray this as taking control of the gateway to Kharkiv. However, American analysts debunked yet another Russian disinformation claim. As it turns out, fighting is still ongoing in this settlement, and the enemy has not yet established any strongholds there.
"Russian forces continued offensive operations in the Kupyansk direction on August 15 and 16 but did not advance," the ISW reports.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding their positions on the southern outskirts of Kupiansk.
In the Sloviansk sector, Russia also attempted to break through, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces prevented them from doing so.
In addition, it is reported that Ukrainian troops recently cleared an area in the western part of Kostiantynivka of Russian reconnaissance units.
Earlier, we reported on how Ukrainian air defense forces had repelled a new nighttime attack by Russia.
Additionally, Russia is building new secret bases for launching long-range jet drones.
