Russia strikes Ukraine with 128 drones overnight: Air defense's work reported

Last night, Ukrainian air defense forces attempted to shoot down and neutralize 128 Russian drones sent toward various regions of Ukraine. Most of the Russian drones did not reach their targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
How Russia attacked Ukraine on August 17
Russia's new air attack began as early as 6 p.m. Kyiv time on August 16.
This time, the Russians deployed 128 drones of various types, namely:
- Shahed-type strike drones (including jet-powered ones)
- Gerbera
- Decoy drones of the Parodiya type.
Russian drones flew from the following directions: Kursk, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk region.
Who repelled the Russian attack on August 17 and how many targets were neutralized
The following forces were involved in destroying the Russian drones:
- Air force
- Anti-aircraft missile forces
- Electronic warfare and unmanned systems units
- Mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
"According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 a.m., air defense forces shot down or neutralized 106 Russian drones of the Shahed and Gerbera types, as well as other types of drones, in the north, south, and east of the country," the report states.
In addition, the Ukrainian Air Force confirmed hits at 14 locations, as well as the crash of downed drones (debris) at two locations.
Defense officials warned Ukrainians that Russia's attack on Ukraine is still ongoing and urged them not to ignore air raid alerts.
