Ukrainian ex-official tried to pass mansion to children before being killed in Spain

Former Ukrainian politician Andriy Portnov tried to transfer property to his children a few months before his murder. The property in question is a luxury mansion, El Pais informs.
According to the outlet, while in Madrid, Portnov carried out certain financial and property transactions.
Specifically, a few months ago, he visited a notary in the Spanish capital to transfer ownership of a mansion to his children. The property is located in the village of Kozyn in the Kyiv region, on the banks of the Dnipro River. The mansion is valued at €2.5 million.
Sources cited by the media outlet believe he may have been attempting to "conceal the property or avoid confiscation in the event of sanctions or criminal prosecution."
Notably, Portnov is under US sanctions. US authorities placed him on the sanctions list back in December 2021. The restrictions included a ban on entering the US and the freezing of all his financial assets in American banks.
