Ukrainian company Fire Point wants to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with its first ballistic missile, which will be mass-produced, by the end of this year, according to an interview with the company’s co-owner and chief designer, Denys Shtilerman, on the Moseichuk+ program.
According to Shtilerman, the company will begin mass production of its own ballistic missile this year, and it will be supplied to Ukraine’s Defense Forces. The company’s chief designer declined to disclose production volumes.
Shtilerman added that the company is already producing three FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles per day. He noted that the current number of missiles produced depends not on actual capacity, but on orders, and more missiles can be manufactured later if needed.
The new ballistic missile is expected to be a short-range system (up to 500 km) and will receive the designation FP-7. In 2026, the company plans to develop and put into service the FP-9 ballistic missile with a range of 850 kilometers.
Ukraine’s long-range weapons: Flamingo missile
In September this year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is actively developing long-range weapons. The latest tests were successful, and the next step is launching serial production.
Among other systems, Ukraine has begun serial production of the Flamingo cruise missiles with a flight range of up to 3,000 kilometers. According to Zelenskyy, they will enter mass production by the end of the year.
The publicly announced technical specifications of the Flamingo are as follows:
-
Range: 3,000 km
-
Time in the air: over 4 hours
-
Maximum speed: 950 km/h
-
Cruising speed: 850–900 km/h
-
Wingspan: 6 meters
-
Maximum takeoff weight: 6 tons
-
Warhead weight: 1 ton.
According to Western media, the Flamingo missiles surpass US Tomahawk cruise missiles in their characteristics. They carry a larger warhead and have a longer flight range.
