Ukrainian forces neutralized hundreds of thousands of enemy soldiers in 2025, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Armed Forces, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi.

The general noted that this year, Ukraine proved a simple truth to the world: the strongest Ukrainian argument is the Armed Forces. Long-range strikes, advanced technologies, and Ukraine’s determination weaken and destroy Russia’s military machine every day. Ukrainian long-range drones and missiles daily disrupt Russian military plans and defense industry capabilities.

"We have one of the strongest and most experienced armies in the world. And nearly 420,000 neutralized Russian occupiers just this year is clear proof of that," he added.

The Commander-in-Chief wished Ukrainian defenders resilience, strength, and faith in the new year: to endure where it’s difficult, to win where it seemed impossible, and to return home alive.

Russian losses

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost over 1.2 million soldiers in the war against Ukraine, including killed and wounded.

On December 30 alone, Russian losses amounted to 1,000 personnel.

Notably, on the night of December 31, Ukrainian forces struck the Tuapse oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, causing a fire and damaging primary and deep oil-processing units. The refinery is among the ten largest in Russia.

In addition, strike drones hit the Temp oil reserve base in the Yaroslavl region and a temporary base for river vessels near Olenivka in Crimea.

Impacts were also recorded on ammunition depots in the areas of Blyzhnie and Siyatel in the Donetsk region. The General Staff emphasized that these actions aim to weaken Russia’s military-economic potential and compel the country to cease aggression against Ukraine.
