Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief confirms military plan as part of security guarantees

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that Ukrainian troops, together with Western partners, are developing the military component of post-war security guarantees, according to Syrskyi’s statement.
Syrskyi noted that he took part in a videoconference meeting with the commanders-in-chief of the armed forces of several partner countries of Ukraine - Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the UK, and the US. The Commander of NATO’s Allied Armed Forces in Europe also joined the meeting.
“Together with the heads of the armed forces of partner countries, we are developing a military component to support diplomatic negotiations aimed at ensuring lasting peace for Ukraine and the whole of Europe,” the general wrote.
According to him, the proposals prepared during the meeting will be presented to national security advisors for proper consideration. Further planning and corresponding communication will depend on the progress of the negotiations.
“I am convinced that through joint efforts, with the political and diplomatic support of Ukraine’s committed partners, we will be able to achieve real peace and guarantee security for Ukraine and for all of democratic Europe,” Syrskyi added.
Security guarantees for Ukraine
Military leaders from the US and several European countries have completed the development of military options regarding Ukraine and will submit them for consideration to their national security advisors. Recently, the Coalition of the Willing confirmed its readiness to deploy deterrence forces - a foreign military contingent intended to serve as a safeguard against a new large-scale Russian offensive.
Germany has already stated that it does not rule out the possibility of sending its contingent to Ukraine, while the UK emphasized that it is prepared to deploy troops immediately after the signing of a potential peace agreement or a truce arrangement. At the same time, Greece declared that its forces would not be sent to Ukraine.
Additional complications arise from Russia’s position. Despite all the previous statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin and his promises to US President Donald Trump, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared that Ukraine’s security guarantees should be ensured on an equal basis by countries such as China, the US, the UK, and France. However, according to the Russian Foreign Minister, without Russia’s participation, this is a road to nowhere.
Lavrov’s statement that Russia, China, and the US could act as guarantor states for Ukraine’s security effectively derailed Moscow’s negotiations with Washington. Initially, his words were ridiculed at the White House. Later, Putin himself was sharply mocked in Europe.
