Ukrainian armed forces chief briefs US commander on frontline situation

Ukraine needs more air defense systems, electronic warfare capabilities, and long-range missiles, stated Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"I held another video conference call with the commander of the Allied Land Command and US Army Europe and Africa General Christopher Donahue. I briefed him on the situation on the front line, which remains difficult," the general wrote.
Syrskyi emphasized that Russia has failed to turn the situation in its favor, despite numerical superiority and heavy concentrations of firepower in some areas of the front. He noted that thanks to counterattacks by Ukrainian units, Russia’s offensive plans during the spring and summer were disrupted.
"At the same time, the Russian aggressor continues to carry out missile and air strikes on critical economic and military-industrial targets, strikes residential areas, and continues to terrorize civilians.
To protect our people, our enterprises and territory, Ukraine needs more effective air defense systems, missiles, electronic warfare tools, and other modern weapons systems," the commander said.
According to Syrskyi, the top priority is air defense and long-range strike capabilities.
Ukraine’s successes in the war
Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi reported that on September 21, Ukrainian forces regained control of 1.3 square kilometers in the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk region. In addition, Ukrainian troops conducted operations across 2.1 square kilometers to locate and destroy enemy forces.
During the counteroffensive in the Dobropillia direction, Ukraine retook seven settlements and cleared nine from Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in the Sumy region, Ukrainian forces are advancing toward the state border, while in the Kharkiv region, Russian forces are suffering heavy losses.
