During the operation in the Dobropillia direction, Ukrainian defenders managed to liberate seven settlements from Russian forces. The enemy suffered heavy losses, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported.

The general noted that the advance of Ukrainian defenders into Russian defenses is from 3 to 7 kilometers.

"Control has been restored in seven settlements, nine cleared of enemy sabotage groups," Syrskyi added.

According to him, in total, during the operation, it was possible to liberate 160 square kilometers, and another 171 square kilometers were cleared of enemy saboteurs.

Syrskyi reported that Russian losses during this period amounted to 2,456 personnel, including 1,322 irrecoverable. The exchange fund was also significantly replenished.

At the same time, the enemy lost 817 units of weapons and military equipment:

  • 12 tanks;

  • 37 armored fighting vehicles;

  • 162 artillery systems;

  • 5 multiple launch rocket systems;

  • 382 vehicles;

  • 58 motorcycles;

  • 1 special equipment unit;

  • 160 drones.

Counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Yesterday, September 18, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian defenders are conducting a counteroffensive operation near Dobropillia and in the area of Pokrovsk.

He noted that in this way, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to disrupt the Russian offensive that they were counting on after a failed attempt to attack in the Sumy region.
