The Ukrainian Air Force has shown French Mirage 2000 fighter jets performing combat missions in Ukraine, according to the Air Force's reports.
"Mirage 2000 of the Ukrainian Air Force is flying on a combat mission, expecting good news from France," the Air Force reported.
The video shows the preparation of the aircraft for combat sorties, as well as the strikes from the cockpit of the fighter.
What is known about the Mirage 2000
The Mirage 2000 is a fourth-generation multirole fighter developed by the French company Dassault Aviation. It has been in service with France since 1978 and has undergone several upgrades.
The aircraft is produced in three variants: interceptor fighters, strike versions, and two-seat training and combat versions. The upgraded variants are equipped with modern electronics and are capable of carrying air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground missiles, and guided bombs.
The aircraft proved to be quite simple and reliable, which is why it remains in service with France and several other countries even after the appearance of more advanced aircraft.
Mirage 2000 in Ukraine
On February 6, 2025, the French Minister of Defense announced the delivery of the first Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine. Along with the aircraft, pilots who underwent several months of training in France also arrived in Ukraine.
In March, Ukrainian forces used the Mirage for the first time to destroy aerial targets during a massive Russian attack.
Today, November 17, Ukraine plans to purchase around one hundred French Rafale fighter jets, manufactured by Dassault Aviation.
