Ukraine will nominate Trump for Nobel Prize if he secures ceasefire - Zelenskyy

Ukraine will nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Prize if he secures a ceasefire in the war with Russia, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a meeting with journalists on October 8.
He emphasized that the very fact of a ceasefire in Ukraine would affect the possibility of reaching an agreement to end the war.
"The plan to end the war will not be simple, but it is definitely the right path. And if Trump gives the world, first and foremost Ukrainians, the opportunity for such a ceasefire, then yes, he should be nominated for the Nobel Prize. We will nominate him on behalf of Ukraine," Zelenskyy emphasized.
Nobel Peace Prize
The Nobel Prize is one of the most prestigious international awards, granted annually for outstanding contributions to the strengthening of peace. It was established by Alfred Nobel at the end of the 19th century.
The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to individuals and organizations for significant contributions to the resolution of international conflicts, the protection of human rights, disarmament, and other initiatives that promote peace.
The award ceremony takes place in Oslo, Norway, and is accompanied by a monetary prize, the amount of which changes each year.
Between October 6 and 13, the laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced. In 2025, 338 candidates are competing for the award — 244 individuals and 94 organizations.
Among the possible contenders, in addition to Donald Trump, are Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Alexei Navalny.
US President Donald Trump is convinced that he himself deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, as he believes he has "stopped seven wars."
The US president also emphasized that it would be a "great insult" to the United States if he did not receive it.
