Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 31: +1,600 troops and 2,055 drones

Ukraine's latest military assessment points to continued Russian losses on the battlefield, including troop casualties and damage to military equipment during the past day.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 31, 2026 are estimated to be:

Frontline situation
Ukrainian forces launched a major overnight strike on Russia's Yeysk and Millerovo military airfields, targeting air defense systems, radars, ammunition depots and other military infrastructure.
At Yeysk, Ukrainian FP-1 drones reportedly destroyed a Pantsir-S1 system, two radar stations and an aviation weapons depot, with satellite imagery showing fires at several locations.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces struck several key targets inside Russia overnight on August 30, including the Kirishi oil refinery in the Leningrad region, one of Russia's largest refineries with an annual capacity of about 20 million metric tons.
Ukraine says the facility supplies the Russian military. Another strike hit a site in Millerovo used to store, prepare, and launch attack drones, where a fire was reported.
